Parcels of lavender.
Tomorrow I'll drive across the mountains and it probably won't look like this, but still. Crossing into Washington from Oregon stirs my heart so well. The ambiance of the nature in the Pacific Northwest is lulling and beautiful and ever-present; I can almost hear it sometimes. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I'm all packed and ready. There's a backpack, a Samsonite, and a princess dress waiting by the front door. Also a tiny parcel of lavender.
When I drive by myself, for hours on end, I roll my window down and just listen. I listen to the wind and the trees and the birds and the cars and the outside of where I am. Sometimes I speak French to myself. I try to make things up, hard things, things I don't remember. I talk; I tell stories, out loud, things I wouldn't dare tell if I was with someone else. I make them up. I try words together, just to hear their sounds. I recite poetry. I sing. And I pray. Sometimes I pray about the things I know that I need to pray for. Sometimes I pray about things I don't know or don't understand or can't remember. And sometimes I just simply thank God.
It is so much easier to remember to thank God when it's you and the road and His nature and six hours ahead. I promise. So much easier.
I like that though. Even though I forget other times, I remember to be thankful when I'm driving. You see so much that you can't really help it. All of your senses are overwhelmed and spilling full of the outside, and you just remember.
I can't wait for tomorrow for many reasons. I get to see my little sister. There will be coffee. Nature. More coffee. Friends. A week of summer camp. And six hours of thanks.

July.
I am okay with that.
Because June is done, and she was beautiful. And July is sure to be just as gorgeous, if not more.
Just so you all know, I have been looking through the pictures of your sunsets and rises, and not to be prideful, but mine are so much more beautiful. There is something incredibly intense and humble all at once about the Oregon sun. It takes your breath away constantly. Every time. I admonish and implore you to visit my state at least once. And to see the same sun in a different way. Your life will change, or your expectations will.
Some days I wake up early all alone and I watch the sun rise.
No one will ever convince me that it's not worth it.
I wrote stacks of letters this last month, and now there are more to come. If you'd like one, email me. I'm happily painting little pictures and writing small notes in the lulling moments of my days. And there are many of those moments. It is swollen with heat here.
This week has seen the beginnings of my translating materials into French, running out of envelopes, and pushing myself to work on my 2013 goal.
So.
I'm going to paint and cut up magazines to make envelopes.

Peace.
K and I are making decisions together but apart. To stay or go. And to go or go. Somehow after tonight, with tea and short conversations, I feel better. Like the pressure is a little lighter on my chest.
Like I'm not alone anymore.
I'll confess, it has been so hard these past few weeks, to pretend like all my praying and lists and more praying and hopes is getting me somewhere, is getting me an answer. It's not. I can't choose. And I was somewhat desperate this morning, but tonight, tonight K told me things.
Noah. Noah and his illogical ark.
And I told K things. She has a way of making me say the things I need to hear to her.
And now, peace.
That sweet, pleasurable taste in your mouth when you breathe out and feel your small back muscles relax and it all comes to a stillness. Peace.
Sometimes two decisions can be right decisions. Maybe one is righter, maybe they are the same, but whatever their weight, so long as you have the smallest portions of faith, heaps of blessings will fall on you. Whatever you decide. Whatever you choose.
I'm telling myself that, currently. It is the most savory thing I've said on my lips in a long time. This calls for an 11pm cup of tea. As I finish my French homework with eyelids half shut and sketch out the best parts of this weekend for future painting.

Leon Werth.

Dear Fleur.
I am at school. Writing my essay. Sort of. I kind of just want to go lay in the chair in the corner and pull my yellow sweater over my face and sleep. I won't though. Because I am writing my essay.
I was reading Joel last night, and then I had a dream that someone gave me a whole paper sack full of pale pink peonies. It was pretty darn amazing. That's probably why I am so tired. I woke up thinking about the dream and couldn't really sleep after. I was busy drawing peonies last night.
I haven't worked on Norm The Tie Man for 5 days now. I feel really bad. But everything is crazy. There is just so many birthday presents I need to finish and wrap and send and keep. I AM ALMOST OUT OF RIBBON.
My French is suffering. Remind me to get the snowball from Rog tonight so Victoria and I can have a lesson next week. Okay. Good.
Now.
Back to my essay. And then when Mandy gets out of math she and I will have quesadillas for lunch. I made them with muenster and avocado and turkey. But I forgot my tea. I was going to make tea this morning. Zut alors.
Love Bella.

Mud.
Dear Fleur. This morning my older sister called and said I don't blog enough.
So.
Here I am.
Blogging.
I have to go to a birthday party in 5 minutes though.
Quick:
I've been reading Joel.
Thinking of theology.
Making presents.
Writing letters.
Studying/homework.
Brioche.
Strawberry tea love.
Practicing French.
Hafiz.
And,
I'm wearing pearls.
Bam. I totally win at life. But not really. Because I did not have a good morning.
Love Bell.

Victoria who speaks French.
Dear Fleur. This morning was a french lesson over skype with Victoria. I adore her. She taught me how to say kiss and the colours. I like yellow and blue the best. Pink is too hard to say.
I was so glad that skype actually worked. It only works when we have the snowball now. So merci Nat for leaving it. And to Rog, for bringing it. One day I'll write you a letter in French or something else darling like that...
English breakfast tea. Did you know we have sugar cubes? They're 10 times cuter than loose sugar.
Today I have to do Art History homework with Tazza. Write Taite Isabeau a letter. Paint. Find le petit camera. Drink more tea. Possibly take a trip to Costco(I have some happy notes to hide). Read all three of my copies of The Little Prince. Make a book list for India. I want to write today. Really write. I need to fix one story. But there's another in my head that I need to get out. I blogged about it once. I need to find it again. We should got o the post office too.
But now there's laundry to do.
Love Bella.

If you come visit me, I'll make you cinnamon rolls.
Dear Fleur.Once in a rare blue moon our friends will randomly fix their schedules and come visit us. It's always crazy when they do it. Some people tell us they're coming. Some people don't(These people get in big trouble).
It is always amazing.
Everyone's visit is different. Sometimes it's softball and goodwill and parks. Sometimes it's pizza and kitchens and redbox. Sometimes it music and music and music. They are all different. And I love them all.
One time, Nat and Roger and Andrew all came to see us. That was a music trip. Lots of music. I usually don't like the music trips the best.
I don't do music.
But this was a good trip. Roger gave me a present. Well, actually, Roger gave me a person. I just call her a present.
When we first started going to Calvary Chapel, the Pastor couldn't for the life of him remember my name. He just couldn't. He would scratch his head and then pretend he remembered and say, Good morning Victoria.
He thought my name was "Victoria."
I thought that was hilarious.
He thought that for 6 weeks or something. Even though I corrected him.
He finally got it right a little while ago. I think he has it right. Actually, he doesn't say my name much. For all I know, I could still be Victoria in his head. And I'm o.k. with that.
Roger gave me the real Victoria.
And she's gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. She likes pastels. And making forts. And she speaks French. Gah. I love her. That's her, at the top of this post.
That's her.
And she's kind of already mine.
We might even meet. We might even meet next weekend. I am going to where she lives. I really want to meet her. I really want to kiss her on the cheek and tell her I love her.
Because I do.
I love her.
She has brown eyes. I adore brown eyes.
Love Bella.

Kirsten Bean.
Dear Kirsten.You are my favourite.
(Today is her birthday.
She is 18 years old.
I MISS HER.)
So today I ran around wearing mascara and danced in my front yard and drank too many cups of tea and pretended you were with me.
You and I are so different.
And so much the same.
You likes mangoes. I hate mangoes.
But I still love you.
I wish I was in your bedroom and we were counting spoons together or something.
I adore you babe.
I think I'm going to go study french now and put my pajamas on and make you another birthday card while ripping up magazines.
Wait till you see what I found for you Honey.
Je t'aime.
Love Your Bell.

hot chai tea latte.
Dear Fleur.
I hated this morning.
Then it all got better.
Ria brought me home a hot chai tea latte from STARBUCKS.
Bright Star is on the kitchen table.
And,
I don't have to get my mole removed.
Oui.
You heard right.
That special little mole on my back, I don't have to get it cut off.
Face.
Bad day die.
John Keats fill my head.
And sunscreen cover me.
Love, Bella.

(Yes, he is that cute.)

(Yes, he is that cute.)He is a very dear friend. We Skype him. But we have always been webcam-less. Until today. When the mail came. And I opened up a webcam.
I think my heart was pouring out my ears.
I did the spazzy dance in my kitchen.
THANK YOU DAVEY ROSE.
You have just made my bad day better. I'm pleased to be your friend. And I hope we can write French to one another for years and years. I cannot wait for you to see my face. Even if my hair is a mess.

Pierre.
Dear Fleur.
I kind of want a French boy today. Maybe one named Pierre. Or some other delightful French name. You know, one of those names that makes your ears feel like someone is pouring paper hearts all over your face?
I like french names.
And I want a french boy today.
I already miss him.
And I don't even have him.
Crazy fille. That's the definition of me if you didn't know: "crazy petite fille."
I hope my French boy wouldn't mind loving me.
But maybe he'll be crazy too.
I would never say that to my French man.

Darling.
Dear Fleur.
Yesterday:
Did you know Petra Mathers understands love?
I bought one of her books.
And I read it while sitting on the floor.
Wearing a knitted grey sweater&black tights while listening to Gavin DeGraw.
Then later on I went to the grocery store in my older sister's little blue and white flowered nightie.
With messy hair.
And then we went to REDBOX.
And rented "Bright Star."
Did you know I think John Keats was the most brilliant man?
That movie was darling.
It made me cry in my bed at night.
And from now on,
I will struggle to write poetry,
start a 'butterfly farm' in my bedroom,
love,
kiss all my letters I write,
and sew on my bed.
Because I think Fanny Brawne was the most brilliant woman.
And I secretly want to be like her.
Did you know the stars were really pretty last night?
They were.
I looked up at them.
While standing in the cold.
Barefoot.
Heureux.
It felt good.
Love from Bella.

Heureux&content.
Dear Fleur.
Today is nice. The sun decided to peek out. I missed him. He is a dear friend. Worth every ounce of wishful thinking.
I am in a good writing mood today.
•
Her legs were crossed. In that particular way that meant she was happy. That she was content. And she was at the moment. Heureux&content. A good duo.
Her hair was poofy. It was a big hair day. She didn't exactly feel in mood for poofy hair, but she just piled it up on her head and was satisfied. Her hair wasn't something she could exactly control. It had a life of its own. And it was stubborn.
She wore a little skirt her older sister had sewn. High on her waist with a yellow striped shirt tucked in it. It felt like she was wearing summer. All over herself. A little pearl hung around her throat. And her feet were bare. Maybe that was what made her feel like she was wearing summer. Her bare feet. But then again, she was always barefoot.
Her head was wishing for a French boy.
But there wasn't one.
So she just went to get her French flash cards out. And practice. Saying things like 'je t'aime'&'frere'&'petite.'
And she was heureux&content once more.

Dear Fleur.
(I decided to name my blog.)
Still in my pajamas at 12 o'clock in the afternoon.

•

I found 2 new sweaters for $2.
I'd call that a steal.
It stole my heart.
And sweaters&pink paper hearts&French words&love made me heureux.
I liked Heart Day.
•
Shakespeare in my head this morning.
Francis Carco in my hands.
And a kiss on my cheek(compliments of my little brother).

A little hat.
•
She was tired when she woke up. It was 6:23 in the morning after all. She wasn't an early person. But her hair looked nice this morning. It was curly. Just the way she liked it. She slipped a little pink sweater on over her head and made her way out into the kitchen. It was snowing outside. Her face lit up. And she went out the back door. She stood on the porch barefoot. And looked up. The sky was white. Her cheeks were red and blushing from the cold. Her toes were cold. She was happy.
•
That night she sat on the sofa with her sisters watching Bonnie & Clyde. It was one of her favourite movies. She loved the way Bonnie dressed. Classic. The woman looked put-together while robbing banks for goodness sake. Who else could do that? It made her jealous. And she liked that one little hat that Bonnie wore in the movie. She wished she had a hat like that.
•
This morning was Church. The alarm went off at 6:30. She didn't get out of bed till a half an hour later. And when she did, she was still sleepy. But she shrugged it off. And got dressed. Printed tights, white skirt, cowboy boots, and that pale pink sweater again. It made her feel good. Not as pretty as Bonnie Parker, but good. And her older sister had made her coffee. That made her 'heureux.' Just as happy as when she pretended that she could speak French. Coffee and French. Kind of like Bonnie and Clyde... It was a joli day.
