Fairyland

"Don't you know that everybody's got a Fairyland of their own?"
-Mary Poppins, P.L. Travers

I am spending my days consuming lavender tea, cake, and P.L.Travers. I have also been illustrating, translating, and packing. Things feel like they are moving so slowly, but maybe that's just the hours I spend in a lulling manner. It happens to me every year around this time, just while I'm under the impression that I have to work hard at something again because fall is coming, I get a certain wanderlust in my soul.

One summer, I am going to go.
I'll go somewhere, anywhere, and I'll find my fairyland.

I've always dreamed of going on an adventure, and then wrapping up a parcel to send back to my home while I'm still that somewhere else. And then when I was finished and arrived at home, I would pick it up and open it and remember.
I think that it would be one of the most incredible things to tear the paper off a package and pull the wonderful things + flowers out of it and smell the smells that I had only a short time before and reassure myself that it had been real. I had been there. I had gone.

Maybe my next summer will be dedicated to fairyland searching.

Starting.

The exams are done and the grades are almost in, but I know the result already. All of my undergrad work thus far is stamped with a 4 and a point and a 0. I feel wonderful. There is no other way to explain it.

I laid in my bed this morning, and I was making a mental list of the things I needed to do today, I actually have stuff that I need to do today, but I stopped that about three seconds into the bullet points happening in my head. And instead I made a list of things I want to do today. It involves tea and French books and painting illustration and packing some things and wearing sweatpants. That's it. That's all I want to do.

But first I wait for my little sister to attend graduation practice and I'm going to read "Mary Poppins" and drink coffee.

This is summer.
